Meet Nicole McDonald…

a 17-year old young woman with spina bifida, a condition that affects the spinal cord, that results in reduced mobility, Nicole is one of the many enthusiastic youngsters that heads up to Camp Tidnish every summer and comes every week to get active at Take PART (Physically Accessible Recreation Today).

Nicole is a special individual; who wants to help other kids in Nova Scotia with physical disabilities. That’s why Nicole MacDonald is Nova Scotia’s Easter Seals Ambassador! In addition to utilizing many of the programs offered by Easter Seals Nova Scotia, Nicole likes to get out there and let other kids with physical disabilities know that they can have fun and keep active too with the help of Easter Seals Nova Scotia.

Nicole says: “I am very excited and very happy to be the Ambassador. It’s like being a president!”

Meet Adam Denney…

a 20-year old young man with Spina Bifida. Adam is a student at Halifax West High School and is very enthusiastic about sports. He started playing wheelchair basketball at age 5. His favourite national sport teams are The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Red Socks.

Locally he participates in Easter Seals Take PART (Physically Accessible Recreation Today) program that offers a variety of therapeutic recreation and sport activities. Adam also enjoys being involved in the Nova Scotia Special Olympics.

Adam says: “Just because my legs don’t work doesn’t mean I can’t do what other kids can do. It just means I have to do it sitting down.”
