Adventure Challenge-Relay
The Easter Seals Nova Scotia Adventure Challenge will be a one-day event held on October 16, 2010 in Halifax. Start and end location TBA. NOTE DATE CHANGE!
Using a GPS devise or similar, participants will follow clues and coordinates to seek caches (treasures) hidden throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality Each cache will have a point number assigned to it depending upon the level of difficulty. Teams won’t have time to visit all the caches, so they will have to be strategic!
Prizes will be awarded for the team collecting the most points within the allotted time and the team that raises the most funds over the required registration amount.

- Open to participants of any age or athletic ability. Those under the age of the majority must have a guardian over the age of 21 on their team.
- Teams can have 1 – 4 participants.
- Each team must fund raise a minimum $500 to be officially entered in the event. If teams choose not to fund-raise a team of 4 could make a tax receiptable donation of $125 each.
- Upon registration each team member must sign the Easter Seals Nova Scotia Adventure Challenge waiver.
- To make fundraising easy, team ‘Challenge web pages’ will be available to assist in meeting fund-raising goals. Fundraising assistance will also be available from our Guide to Fundraising book.
- Registration includes: 24 hour camp site, fundraising kit, team pack, barbecue and the chance to win fabulous prizes.
The Day of the Event
- Teams will register and start and finish at a location to be determined in Halifax.
- Participants may travel by foot, cycle, vehicle* or public transportation. Participants are expected to be responsible and respectful of retail, private and public property during the competition.
*Please note that you are NOT REQUIRED to use motorized vehicles to participate in this event. - At least one GPS device will be required for each team (hand held Global Positioning System or similar smart phone GPS application).
Scoring / How to Win
- Each cache will have a point value assigned depending on the difficulty. A cache could be difficult to find, far away, have multiple tasks associated to it.
- Each cache will be secured in position containing a unique log book and stamp to that cache. Stamps must be collected in the team’s log book from each cache to prove that the cache was visited.
- Teams will be ranked at the finish line according to the total number of points collected from the caches within the time allowance.
- In the event of a tie, the team who arrived at the finish line first will be declared the winner.
