Rappel for Easter Seals 2010! TIPS AND INCENTIVE Q&A

When is the Drop Zone and or Zip Zone taking place?
The Drop Zone will be held on Friday, September 17th at 1801 Hollis Street and the Zip Zone will be held on Saturday, October 2nd on the Macdonald Bridge.

How much do I have to raise?
Drop Zone registration is $1500 for the Zip Zone it is $3000 but we have lots of ways to help you reach your goals and some great incentives.

What are the Incentives?
Any registrant who has their money in for the Drop Zone by September 1st or September 15th for the Zip Zone will be given a Cleve’s Source for Sports $50 Gift Certificate.

Most people who participate do so for the challenge and thrill of the rappel, but also because they believe in the mission of Easter Seals Nova Scotia: enabling Nova Scotians with physical disabilities to enhance their quality of life by achieving their individual potential, through: Active Living programs, Assistive Devices, and Family and Community support.

What do I get if I find a friend to participate?
Encourage your friends, family, co-workers to participate this year!  If you find a friend who raises $1500 for the Drop Zone, your name will be entered into a draw for a free spot in the Zip Zone – rappel the Macdonald Bridge.

I have done the Drop Zone but the Zip Zone is too much money for me to raise!
Take advantage of our 2 for 1 opportunity! Go in with a friend to raise $3,000 – you can rappel at Zip Zone – the Macdonald bridge and your friend can rappel at Drop Zone. Or, raise $3,000 by yourself and do both!  To do this, register as a Team captain under Zip Zone and invite your friend to join you!

Ya, but it is still a lot of money!
It isn’t as hard as it seems – we can help you fundraise in a variety of ways. Your participant pack comes with many ideas to help you to raise money. A personal online donations webpage is created for you just by registering for an event. This allows you to email all your contacts and keep track of donations. Posters, postcards, business cards, donor request letters, wristband give aways and more all included with your participant pack. Easter Seals staff is here to support your efforts and strategize fun and easy ways to fundraise!

I live too far away to participate in this event!
Hotel accommodations will be available for participants residing more than 200km outside the HRM the night of the event (September 17th for the Drop Zone and October 2nd )

Drop Zone        Zip Zone

Making it’s start in Halifax in 2004, Drop Zone has taken Canada by storm as it now takes place all across the country in Victoria, Vancover, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, St. John’s and Charlottetown!

In 2009, Easter Seals DROP ZONE hit Halifax on a beautiful sunny day – with a little wind. 70 excited (and nervous) participants who raised a minimum of $1500 rappelled from the roof of 1801 Hollis St – 23 stories high – to the ground. They were trained and assisted by a crew from RAT (Remote Access Technology).

2009 marked the Easter Seals Drop Zone’s 6th run in Halifax – participants  raised over $120, 000 towards Easter Seals Nova Scotia’s community based programs for Nova Scotians with physical disabilities that include adapted sports camps, a fully accessible summer camp, job training for adults with physical disabilities and the provision of medical and assistive personal equipment.

Participants of Drop Zone are superheros in our community for helping raise money for persons with disabilities. Congratulation to all the superheros who conquered their own fears to make their leap into action!!
