Dolphins on Parade is the newest public art initiative of Easter Seals Nova Scotia, in collaboration with the Canadian Navy Maritime Forces Atlantic in honor of their Centennial Celebrations. The project will feature 30 dolphin figures painted by local artists on public display commencing in May 2009 for the summer and again in 2010. Dolphins on Parade is the third public art initiative of Easter Seals Nova Scotia, following the Guardians of the Sea in 2007 and Lobsters in the City in 2005. Public Art Projects raise money for Easter Seals Nova Scotia’s programs that support people in our community with physical disabilities, by the purchase of Dolphins by our sponsors. Artists involved receive payment for their work.
Dolphins on Parade is a unique project that encourages Nova Scotia artists, local businesses and individuals, and the Canadian Navy to come together in a spirit of community fundraising to benefit the important work of Easter Seals Nova Scotia. Collaborating with sponsors from local organizations, talented Nova Scotian artists paint the dolphin figure to represent the sponsor’s community involvement and history. Dolphins are significant in Navy folklore and serve as another wonderful icon for Nova Scotia. The Dolphins celebrate the cultural diversity of our province, promote civic pride and captivate the imaginations of children and adults alike.
If you are an interested artist or represent an organization looking to get involved, please contact Easter Seals Nova Scotia
