2013 Message from Patti Sampson, Director of Camp Tidnish
As the Camp Tidnish office gets ready for another exciting season at camp, I just want to take a moment to reflect on what an amazing year it has been.
I’ve had such a great time getting to know all of the campers, families, staff, volunteers, community members, and alumni that contribute to the Camp Tidnish magic. Over and over again I was struck by the incredible sense of community and comradery that you have created.
Thank you for welcoming me into your Camp Tidnish family.
Looking forward, summer 2013 is off to a great start with some amazing staff lined up and some exciting new programs kicking off this season. I am so excited to continue to create new memories and relationships with our returning campers as well as new generations of CT campers.
To those of you who are returning, welcome home, and to our new campers, we can’t wait for you to join us and share the magic of Camp Tidnish.

Fri June 14- Thurs June 20 Commanders 1 (Adults 25+ with physical disabilities)
Tues June 25- Mon July 1 Wayfarers 2 (Adults 25+ with intellectual disabilities)
Fri July 5- Thurs July 11 Wayfarers 3 (Adults 25+ with intellectual disabilities)
Tues July 16- Mon July 22 Commanders 2 (Adults 25+ with physical disabilities)
Sat July 27- Fri Aug 2 Explorers (Kids with intel./ physical disabilities)
Wed Aug 7- Tues Aug 13 Challengers (Youth 13- 24 with physical disabilities)
Sun Aug 18-Sat Aug 24 Navigators (Youth 13-24 with intel. disabilities)
Aug 25-26 Shut Down (Senior Staff & Head Counselors)
Campers arrive at 11am on Day 1 and leave by 11am on day 7
Staff are finished at 1pm on Day 7

Who Can Register?
Camp Tidnish is for Nova Scotia campers who have a physical disability or a mental challenge. If space allows, campers from outside Nova Scotia may be admitted, but first priority is to Nova Scotia campers. Camp Tidnish is not able to accept campers with the following behavioural concerns:
- Psychiatric disorders that have the potential to cause harm to themselves or to others;
- Emotional disorders such as continuous crying or screaming or severe mood swings;
- Learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders as the sole diagnosis, unless in conjunction with a physical or mental disability;
- Aggressive and/or violent behaviours;
- Those that pose an elopement risk.
