The Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship

The Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship is established in memory of Durham Laporte, who was a Camp Tidnish Counsellor that suddenly passed away at the young age of 25.

Durham was a compassionate individual with a love of performing arts. He was a comedian who entertained and a caring young man who enjoyed working with people with disabilities. He enjoyed his time as a counsellor at Camp Tidnish and touched the lives of many campers. During his time at Camp Tidnish, Durham encouraged campers and other staff to embrace and demonstrate their creativity through performing in talent shows and open mic sessions.

To honour Durham and his love of Camp Tidnish, his family has created this scholarship, which will be awarded to one family per year and will cover the enrollment fee for a one-week session at Camp Tidnish.

The Scholarship will be awarded to an adult over the age of 19 with a disability, living in a Residential Care Facility.

Applications for the Durham Laporte Memorial Scholarship are open from January 1st until March 30th each year, with the recipient being announced on April 15th.

The Scholarship winner will be personally selected by Durham’s family.
