Easter Seals Nova Scotia is delighted to announce a $100,000 donation from Scotiabank as part of the strategic giving strategy ScotiaRISE. This incredible investment will further the work of Easter Seals Nova Scotia’s The Next Step – Youth Employment Program.  Scotiabank has committed $500 million in community investment by 2030 to help people RISE by investing in education, inclusion and employment across their locations.

“We are so pleased to partner with Easter Seals Nova Scotia on this exciting project to assist youth living with disabilities access meaningful employment opportunities within their communities.  This gift aligns with our strategic giving strategy ScotiaRISE, which promotes economic resilience among disadvantaged groups. By working together to remove barriers to advancement and increase access to opportunities, we can create a more inclusive and resilient world for everyone. And for every future.”
Karen Birss, Regional Vice President, Atlantic – Scotiabank and Easter Seals Nova Scotia Board Member.

The Next Step – Youth Employment Program works with young adults aged 17 to 30 who identify as having a disability, to develop their employment skills allowing them to grow personally and professionally. The employment team helps the individual develop a plan to assist them in finding paid community employment or volunteer experiences.

Our employment workshops are offered in our fully accessible centre each month at no cost to our participants. These workshops focus on pre-employment skills, job retention and interpersonal professional skill development.
